THE search is on for volunteers to help make this year’s Gawler Show a success.
Show secretary Kate Cowell said the admin team, particularly, is in need of a few extra pairs of hands to help with the necessary behind-the-scenes tasks that go into making the annual Gawler Show the great event it is.
“We have a few more volunteers that come in closer to the show, but now is the time we really need to get a few more, just to help with general duties,” she said.
“Things like stocktake, photocopying, answering the phones, those kinds of things need doing.
“We will soon need to do the prize cards, organise the folders for our convenors – there are lots of little things.”
Volunteer support is generally needed for one to two days a week, based at the Gawler Show office at Princes Park.
The office is a Centrelink-approved organisation, meaning volunteers can have their contribution form part of their Centrelink activity requirements, if needed.
Ms Cowell said office experience is not necessary, but good organisation skills and the ability to move flexibly between tasks are desirable.
“It gets busy, but it’s a relaxed atmosphere and we all get along,” she said.
“We, kind of, find that people, when they come in, really do get attached and like coming back and being a part of something bigger, and for their community.
